Ethel was also known for her kind smile, a positive attitude and her infectious giggle. She also collected donations for numerous charities, and was always ready to help those in need whether in her own community or across the state. White, for whom she worked for over 12 years. She was well known as a hard worker in which she took great pride, working as cook, housekeeper, chauffeur and caregiver to many local, as well as summer residents. In 1944, she graduated from Brooksville High School and two years later married Richard Howard Jr. Eventually she cleaned cottages and waited tables.
